Aczone Update, week 1

I’ve used Aczone for a week now. Initially I was disappointed that my dermatologist prescribed me the medication instead of Retin A. However, it only took me a couple of days to change my initial opinion.

I like Aczone, I don’t know if I can say love yet. Hopefully I will in a month, but I like the results I’m getting so far.

Why I like Aczone:

1) It’s very mild – It doesn’t dry my skin, but I make sure I only apply a pea size amount on my face. From previous experience with acne medication, my skin would be red, dry, flaky, with plenty of pimples. It also helps that I use a mild cleanser. I was supposed to get cetaphil to clean my face. Instead, I’ve been using the leftover SFC lotion I got with my duac gel. It is a gentle soap-free cleanser, just like cetaphil. I moisturize with Neutrogena oil-free moisture.

2) My pimples heal faster – Within a couple of days, the pimples I had disappeared or decreased in size.

3) Less breakouts – I only got one new pimple in the past week, which is a big difference of my daily average of 3.

3) My acne scars seem to be fading faster – Well, I’m not sure if it really is or just my hopeful imagination. However, the dark marks from previous acne flare ups seem to appear lighter.

What I don’t like:

1) It’s not Retin A =)

I like the results I’m getting with Aczone. My pimples are disappearing, and I didn’t have to go through a period of inflammation.
