It’s been a year and half battle with acne for me, and with many trials and errors with different products. Finally there’s some improvements after the first 8 weeks on my new topical medications. I’m currently using Tazorac and Erythromycin Benzoyl Peroxide Cream as my topical medication and Yaz to control my hormones. I also changed my skin care routine and based it on a book by Doctor Leslie Baumann called The Skin Type Solution. It’s a book with a detailed questionnaire which determines your skin type. My skin type is Oily, Sensitive, Pigmented, and Wrinkled based on the questionnaire. I’ve only used the products recommended by the book for three days, and I’ve seen immediate results.
To wash my face I used the Neutrogena Oil free acne wash. The Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne wash is a really good cleanser, it removes all the make-up and oil. The only thing I don’t like too much is the dry feeling on my face for about an hour if I don’t moisturize. Then if I need to exfoliate I use VitAPlus illuminating masque. The VitAPlus Illuminating Masque made my skin smoothe. Tazorac caused a lot of flaking on my face, and no amount of lotion and exfoliation seems to be able to get rid of it. With the Illuminating Masque, I spread an even layer and leave it on for 5-10 minutes, and rinse. My flaky skin disappears after just one use. I was so amazed to see my skin so smooth. Not only does it exfoliate but it also evens out the skin’s discolorations. I use the Exuviance Blemish Treatment gel for spot treatment of acne.
The Skin Effects lightening cream made my acne scars lighter in just two nights with the use of the illuminating masque. I am really amazed at the immediate results, and it makes me so happy that my skin is finally becoming better. The only problem I have with the Skin Effects is that my skin is really sensitive. I get a very strong burning sensation to my face lasting about a minute and then mild burning or tingling feeling on my face lasting about 4 hours. Not a very pleasant feeling, my alternative is to just to use the lightening cream for spot treatment. The turbo C powder is supposed to be a powerful antioxidant and helps brighten and even skin tone. I put a small scoop of the turbo C powder in the lightening cream.
I love the Aveeno Positively Radiant antiwrinkle cream as my moisturizer. It smells so good, and it leaves my skin so soft. I’m not too sure how I feel about the Ponds Age defeye yet. It’s cheaper than my Boscia enlivening amino-AG eye treatment, and it does moisturize, so i’ll give it a chance. The Make UP Forever Elixir has been my lifesave the past 2 weeks, before I bought the other products. It moisturize my face, and provided a smooth base for my make up to go on evenly. It’s definitely a must have for spot treatment, especially during the cold months.
